It is said that education is the light of life but unfortunately thousands of children are still deprived of education. Eight years ago when Ms. Shobha Rai saw some children smoking and playing on the street, she asked them about their activities. They replied that it was all due to their poverty, ignorance of their parents and family quarrel. Then she called them for study but there was no space so she made home balcony a place for teaching children. There were 7 children in the beginning and slowly the number of children started to increase.
Before the construction of present school building the classes were run in muddy small huts. There were no proper desks and benches so children also used to study sitting on mattress.
In that situation NMG collected some fund and small rooms were rented to run the classes. The economic condition of parents was very poor so they were unable to buy books, uniforms and other required materials. Therefore it was much challenging to continue the program. Later when it got support from donors NMG became successful to construct its own school building. Then every year number of children for the school enrollment started to increased.
Recently there are 370 children regularly attending school.

| • How we select the children » |
|
|
Every year hundreds of applications are submitted for the admission at NMG School but it is not possible to give them admission so we strictly follow the criterion and we prioritize in :
- Analyzing the referrals of government institutions, communities and individuals.
- Home Visit : Our home visit team itself reaches to every possible home and studies the exact financial and social condition of the children/family that can convince us for the opportunity.
- Cross Checking : If required, we go for cross checking without informing to the parents so that they could not hide the reality.
